Happiness Grows When Shared
I live with my family in Bangalore, India. I met my wife Imola on line more than five years ago, and we married in 2012, first at her eastern European home and then again in Nagpur, Maharashtra, India. Our daughter Santini was born in the spring of 2015.
I have lived in Hungary twice and still have close friends there. The first time was in 2007 when I worked with the disadvantaged Roma people as a social activist in the Dzsaj Bhím Közösség. I returned in 2009 as a network engineer at Wi-Fi Falu. I practice my Hungarian when I speak with Imola, and she is starting to learn Maranthi. Our children will speak both of our languages, but they will be educated in English so that doors in our “global village” will be open to them that were closed to me when I was growing up in a rural Indian family.
I am passionate about working with children. I volunteer at the National Friends Association, a residential school in Pune that was established by a friend of mine. Our students are orphaned or otherwise economically disadvantaged, and they are at risk for dropping out. We work to motivate and support them in completing their education. I am also a certified Vipassana instructor for children with the Vipassana Research Institute.
My career path has been moving toward IT since I got my first computer when I was 15 years old. It had a Pentium 3 processor, and I remember thinking that it was the best thing in the world! I quickly progressed beyond playing games and surfing the internet to actually programming my PC. I earned a Bachelors degree in computer science in 2008 from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University in Aurangabad and have worked in IT in both Oracle and SalesForce environments. Here is an essay I wrote about Dr. Ambedkar, the Father of Democracy in India, on the occasion of the dedication of a statue of him.
My parents live in Nagpur, and I own a home there. My dream is to find a Nonviolent Communication (NVC) trainer who will live in my home and bring Peace And Nonviolence in Action to my people through personal and social transformation. I am enchanted with Marshall Rosenberg’s NVC and have been practicing for more than five years. I am confident that I can use my skills, my gifts, and my education to create a beautiful gift for humanity.
