Mortality

This Samhain seasonal show is a study of love and fear, separation and reunion, with a final head-nod to the POTUS election and special attention to cultural oppression and activism by and on behalf of indigenous people and other marginalized groups. News items include a discussion of media coverage of climate change and the consequent escalation of climate wars and the refugee crisis. Also included are a promotional update on Guy McPherson’s upcoming New Zealand tour, two topical songs, and Limericks of Doom by Benjamin the Donkey.

Oneness

Due to the complexities of aligning life in cyberspace with events in the flesh-and-blood world, Sequitur hereby declares its emancipation from clock and calendar time. Shows will continue to bear a Wednesday date every two weeks but may actually be posted at PANinA up to 48 hours before or after the usual 9PM Wednesday eastern USA time.

Part 1 – Peter Melton on the Oneness sign, embellished with Expression of Peace from the 2010 Unity of Berkeley’s Peace Film Project and some observations by the Producer.

Part 2 – Rabbi Michael Lerner on Yom Kippur with instructions on facilitating a Conversation Cafe event in your local community.

Part 3 – Steve Bhaerman (aka the Swami Beyondananda) on Global Oneness Day, the role of humor in connection, and the POTUS election.

Also included is a Limerick of Doom by Benjamin the Donkey and Sequitur theme music by Zympht.

Great Unraveling

Just as Extinction Radio was beginning its four-month sabbatical, Peter Melton interviewed Guy McPherson about our Great Unraveling. The audio file survived the hiatus, and Sequitur is delighted to present a condensed version, with the generous permission of both Guy and Peter.

  • Part I – Welcome to the Sixth Mass Extinction Event!
    • habitat loss – food, water
    • loss of species diversity
    • the small stuff – detritivores, pollinators, the nitrogen cycle
  • Part II – Oceanic and Atmospheric Changes
    • plastic pollution, acidification
    • coral bleaching, algal blooms, plankton, fisheries
    • methane, moistening of the upper troposphere
  • Part III – Global Warming and Industrial Civilization
    • polar meltdown, meandering jet stream, global dimming
    • the truth about trade – the Baltic Dry Index
    • economic and commercial implications

Also included are promotional announcements for events featuring Guy McPherson, including his upcoming New Zealand tour, and a reading of The Invitation by Oriah Mountain Dreamer as well as a not-so-random assortment of news items and Extinction Level Event, a Limerick of Doom by Benjamin the Donkey. Sequitur theme music is by Zympht; you can find more of his music on SoundCloud.

What If? by Here II Here

What if one day it’s confirmed that aliens exist
And they were planning to destroy the world as we know it
Alter our perception of perceived reality
Expressing they’re not here to fight for they have come in peace

What if someday it’s discovered that there is no line
That separates, perpetuates the individual mind
Do you see us letting down the walls that we’ve built up
Because we misinterpreted the true meaning of love

Chorus:
What if someday we recognize that we are all the same
And that the source of everything is beyond any name

What if everything we’ve learned just meant nothing at all
Would the earth stop spinning ’round – just let go and fall
Into the universe until it turns into a star
What if in infinity there’s no such thing as far

(Chorus)

What if miracles were too close for our eyes to see
And this that’s happening right now’s just a possibility
What if you are dreaming you’re asleep when you’re awake
What if God said thank you back, what would you say

(Chorus)

Alien

Who would have thought out of all of the stars in this desert sky
I would behold such a wondrous oasis of six billion I’s?

Who would have thought the so-called dominant species
Would take paradise for granted?

Love is a word humans use all the time
Though I feel that they don’t understand it.

(chorus):
I’m an alien who’s just arrived here on this planet
Of green brown and blue.
I’m an alien amazed at where my craft has landed –
Ive come in search of you.
Now let’s fall in love so I have an excuse to stay.
Let’s fall in love so I never go away.

Space is a womb and the earth is an egg to penetrate.
Many have come; love has given its seed; still we separate.

Who would have thought the so-called dominant species
Would take paradise for granted?

Love is a word religions use all the time –
War’s the proof that they don’t understand it.

(chorus repeat)

(bridge):
Living kaleidoscope forever blossoming,
Species co-dreaming a breathing philosophy.
Destined for nothing but self acceptance,
The story of earth is a possible sentence.
She keeps writing, erasing and writing, erasing.
This is where I belong.

Only one planet with multiple worlds.
Hands reach for light, fingers programmed to curl.
Octaves of light shine through mental projections.
Crystallized truths are a lie in perception.
Here is where I belong.

(spoken):
If you want to be perceived as an alien,
Just allow yourself to be more human.

(chorus repeat)

Be-holder

The Fact of being,
The palette of feeling,
The will to action,
Compassion, expansion,
The edifice of impenetrable logic,
The psychic realms of stars,
Bathing in fountains of infinite creation:
This is the mortal conversation.
—-
Under the everloving influence
Of ancient patterns and sounds,
The tones of bones,
The colors of the iris,
Silken threads of futile memory;
Time loses interest,
That through which we broke at conception,
Expanding toward the second membrane.
—-
It may be days away,
The dying.
It may be days away,
Awakening from this sensorial dream.
—-
It won’t be far away,
The living.
It won’t be far away,
Back to the moment’s infinite seam
—-
You always knew
What the be-holder is able to do.
You always knew
That you make the most beautiful magic.
